[CONFERENCE] Josiane Tantchou, anthropologist

The Health workshop met Josiane Tantchou, head of research at the CNRSE, ethnography of public health policies, care spaces, appropriation of medical technologies, clinical practices and experience of chronic illness. Since 2016 she has been studying how the organisation of hospital spaces impacts care staff-patient relations and the well-being of users.

Her involvement with our working group is a catalyst to boost confidence, inviting us to learn about the power of the buildings we design. Josiane Tantchou highlighted existing issues in health venues and then discussed disobedience for hospitals focussed on well-being, echoing our own work. Her work places architecture back at the heart of care and encourages us to change the rules of the game.
